If you get the message about a missing DLL file "d3dx9_43.dll" when trying to run 3ds Max (or other application), this is probably caused by a problem in the Windows system component - DirectX.
3ds Max requires full support of DirectX and some versions of graphics card drivers do not properly provide this support. Try to update the Windows driver of your graphics card, or to change the graphics mode of your 3ds Max, or to update the system component DirectX by reinstalling its runtime from 
DownloadMicrosoft DirectX runtime 9.0x.
