To construct a paraboloid of revolution (a quadric) you can use revolving of a parabolic curve.
First draw the creating curve of parabola (resp. a half of parabola) - you can use the LISP utility Parabola (see
Download). Add the axis (line) a break the curve in half using the axis and the BREAK command.
Now revolve the parabolic curve around the axis with the REVOLVE command, use the angle of 360°. The result is a parabolic 3D surface, e.g. a dish of a satellite antenna, a reflector case, etc.:
