Q - question

How to import CEL files (Microstation blocks) into AutoCAD?

A - answer Files with the .CEL extension are usually block libraries from the software application Microstation. AutoCAD does not support direct import of such files, but you can use a simple trick.

The internal format of CEL files (V8) is the same as the format of Microstation drawings - DGN - and this format is supported in standard AutoCAD. So you can simply rename your .CEL file to .DGN and then load it in AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT with the standard command DGNIMPORT. You can then complete the conversion by saving the file to the DWG or DXF format.
