Q - question

How to map properties from an imported STEP file to Inventor?

A - answer With the new tool "Property Mapping for Imported CAD Data" (available since Inventor 2017 R2) you can easily map properties from CAD files imported from CATIA, Pro/Engineer, Creo Parametric, STEP, NX and SolidWorks to standard Inventor iProperties.

The "Property Mapping for Imported CAD Data" tool can be invoked by:

  • The Property Mapping button at the bottom of the Import dialog box. This button is only enabled if you are importing a CATIA, Creo, NX, STEP, or Solidworks file into an assembly file.
  • By going to Start menu > Programs > Autodesk > Inventor 2017 > Tools.
