Q - question

List of blocks (incl. nested blocks) used in a DWG drawing.

A - answer With the freeware utility CADstudio NBlockList you can generate a report of all or all selected blocks used (inserted, referenced) in the current AutoCAD DWG file. With each insert block, the function lists the total number of its references and the list of layers it is inserted into.

Example - the Workstation block contains embedded blocks Keyboard and Monitor:

You can download the NBlockList utility from Download, then load the VLX file with APPLOAD and enter the command NBLOCKLIST.

Optionally, this add-on can also export the block list to a CSV file for Excel.
