Q - question

Modeling error: No solution for a vertex

A - answer When trying to shell or thicken a 3D model (surface), AutoCAD or Inventor displays an error - "Modeling failed: No solution for a vertex".

This problem occurs when there is no geometrical solution for the given solid - e.g. you are trying to offset a sphere surface towards its center, for more than the radius of the sphere. First solve/fix the shape of the original geometry or choose other parameters for the offset/shell/thicken.

In case of AutoCAD you can also try to move the 3D solid closer to the origin point 0,0,0 (addressing possible numerical instability).
