Q - question

Non-modal (permanent) iProperties window in Inventor - SelectionInfo.

A - answer The freeware utility SelectionInfo by CAD Studio fulfills one of the most frequent wishes of Inventor users - it creates a permanently displayed modeless iProperties window (palette) showing properties of the component you just click on.

This add-on can be downloaded from CAD Studio's channel on GitHub, where it is published including the C# source code. Thus you can enhance and customize the add-in functionality per your needs - and - return your enhanced version back to the Inventor community again.

If you do not plan to change the application source code, you can just download and install its precompiled version, for Inventor 2018 and higher:

  • Add the manifest file CadStudio.SelectionInfo.Inventor.addin from GitHub to your folder C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Inventor Addins\
  • Copy the application DLL file SelectionInfo.dll to the Bin subfolder of your Inventor installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2020\Bin\)
  • Then (re)start Inventor and click on "+" to open (and dock) the "Selection" window (panel) in the Browser palette.
