Neither ADT VIZ Render nor Autodesk VIZ do render 2D objects coming from a DWG drawing. Since version 2006 you can easily use the new "renderable spline" modifier, assign it to a 2D line or curve, define its section profile and include it so to your 3D renderings.

This way, you can e.g. create simplified scene elements, neon signs, strings, etc.
