When you dimension a geometry in Inventor drawing view, the dimension text is placed by default in the center of the dimension.

If you want to move the dimension text to a more suitable position, press the Ctrl key during dimensioning - the text will be "freed" and you can place it with your mouse to any position on the dimension line or its extension.
