Q - question

Search CAD blocks directly in Windows 7 Search.

A - answer Using the technology of "federalized" search and the OpenSearch format you can directly use the native Windows 7 search window to search CAD blocks form the CAD Blocks catalog (www.cadforum.cz/catalog_en) on this server.

On a computer running Windows 7 (Enterprise or Ultimate) download the XML file CF.osdx (right-click, save target as) from the block catalog. Double-click ("run") the local copy of this file and confirm the installation of the search connector.

Now choose Search (Windows > Start, or Explorer) and enter a keyword to find - e.g. "FORD". In the search results window go to (click) the item "CAD Forum blocks" and in the results you can see all DWG, RFA and IPT blocks containing the searched keyword, including thumbnails and other information. You can switch the view mode to list the blocks as thumbnails (different sizes) or detailed records. Display the preview pane to go quickly to the download page of the specific block.
