The freeware utility "CADstudio QBEblock" allows simple selection of a group of blocks (references) by picking an "example" attribute in one of the blocks - performs a query-by-example.

You can download the QBEblock application from DL Download, load the VLX file with APPLOAD and start the QBEBLOCK command.

Click on an attribute with a searched value and the command finds and selects (in the current DWG drawing) all blocks with the same name which have the same value in the same attribute (same tag).

Usage of this simple utility is illustrated in a video on CAD Studio's YouTube channel:
