TED is devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading that started out as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. With two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Vancouver, Canada each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil each summer, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TED^x programs, and the annual TED Prize.

TED^x are independent TED-like events, which can be organized by anyone who obtains a free license from TED, agreeing to follow certain principles. TED^x events are non-profit, but may use an admission fee or commercial sponsorship to cover costs. Autodesk participates in TED^x events regularly. For example:

For the first time, Autodesk was a core partner of TED^x Tokyo. Autodesk’s presence was managed by Kazuomi Ikeda, Japan PR Lead, and Yutaka Shiozawa, Head of Japan Technical Specialists. 20 employee volunteers manned the booth during the one-day event. We had the largest booth and drew the biggest crowds with fun, interactive experiences: 123D Catch photo booth, Leap Motion / Kinect stations, Smithsonian x3D Explorer, Instructables Japan crafts (e.g., bracelets and keychain holders), and 3D printing.
