Then I would recommend renaming it the same and see what happens. The ES font is kind of nice looking. I'm not a big fan of the Helv font however. I have a Helvo.shx that is sans serif and open on the interior (no additional lines) that I use for our company logo. Even when it is reduced in size it prints clearly. What I'm afraid of when using fonts that consist of multiple lines is that they will bleed into each other when the drawing is reduced and it will look like a black blob. Can't be too careful with appearances, right?

I renamed it as eduardian... however, i opened my old autocad that has the font and it is named as es.shx in the file but in CAD under the "style" command, it lists as eduardian script ITC

I'd post an image of both of them taken as a screen shot from my monitor but the feature set here re: images is rather cumbersome and the results are poor.
What did you rename ES.shx as?

The fonts do not have to be "installed" like TrueType fonts are. I've had partial success. I can use the Helvetica style font. No luck yet with the other. Not sure why that would be. I got the ES.shx to work. Not sure why it worked the second time. All I did was rename the shx file from ES to Eduardian. Funny thing is when I scrolled through the list I have another entry for Eduardian Script ITC which I do not recall seeing the first time. Maybe I've gone blind and don't realize yet. Yes of course... i put them in the autocad fonts folder but i just copied them into the fonts folder. I did not install or do anything else. I would like to verify which folder it is ... i copied them in c:/program files/autodesk/autocad2011/fonts.. i dont think there are any other autocad fonts folders... I did a search and copied them into a few other fonts folders. The windows fonts folder however, i am unable to install them.

Annie:
Did you try putting the fonts in the AutoCAD Font folder initially or were you trying to load them from another location (the Desktop)?

The only fonts i can install from my control panel are true type fonts. It does not show up shx font so that i can select it and download it into windows.
