We have had an issue with extra line types showing up in our drawings that we cannot remove. Even though none of the line types are being used, we are unable to delete them from the drawing. We think that the source of the line types is a drawing from a Civil consultant. Help! Cry  It's making what is typically a 300KB room block turn into a 5MB room block which is exponential in a base floor plan.

What have you tried so far to delete them?  Purge?

This is a block you got from the consultant that contains the linetypes?

How many different linetypes were included that you are not using?

I'm not understanding how linetypes would balloon a drawing by a factor of 16X.

Can't be much of a problem since you did not respond to any of my questions.

If you can't find the linetype with a simple qselect search then most likely it is buried in a block... and quite likely within a nested block.  Your only real option is to start exploding blocks and hunting.  There really is no easy way to find these.

Ha! John, I always appreciate your feedback, but I got a little busy to respond as quick as you'd like:
  • Yes, we've run Audit/Purge commands in each guest room block, base plans, etc.
  • Yes, quite possibly.. we believe it came from a Civil engineer's site plan.
  • At least 100 different line types exist that we are not using.

Dave, you words ring true, and, unfortunately, parallel what I like to call "the last resort".. lol, thanks for the feedback. The hunt BEGINS!

You could try to force purge the linetypes using the shareware version of manusoft's SuperPurge program.  Not entirely sure if it would work so try at your own risk.

I don't see how even 100 linetypes would make a drawing file size balloon that much.  Something else must be going on.

JC, unfortunately, SuperPurge didn't put a dent in it. We're now seeing new text styles flooding into the drawing files. Would you be receptive to my emailing you one of the smaller files to glance at? It's 5MB hotel room block, and it's supposed to be maybe no more than 200KB. I agree: SOMETHING is going on. And it's very recent, so..

In other news... If I had the link handy, I would post the T2 clip where the T-1000 holds up the picture & says the famous: "Have you seen this boy?" Anywho, I digress..long day....

I would be willing to look at a representative drawing file.  We just have to make some arrangements for getting to me.  You are in the U.S. I see.  What state?  I'm in Connecticut.
