Q - question

Import Excel table by snapping a photo of it.

A - answer Sometimes the daunting task of entering tabular data can have a surprising and simple solution.

Even in the field of CAD and BIM design, the preparation of tabular data is a frequent requirement - entering a dimensional table from technical standards book, adding current price information to BIM data, allowed values to the lookup table of parameters, data of CAM tools, etc.

If you have the required tabular data only on paper (e.g. in a technical book or magazine, in a printed price list), you do not have to retype them, just take a picture of them.

Launch the mobile version of MS Excel on your mobile phone or tablet (Android or iOS), log in to your Microsoft account, tap the screen button (left) in the bottom bar and select the Data from Picture icon in the expanded toolbar.

Take a picture of the table and crop it to the desired part. Confirm the recognized cells and table data and save the XLS file to a shared storage. Then just use the Excel spreadsheet on your desktop computer for the desired purpose.
