Q - question

How to import an IGES file in AutoCAD?

A - answer IGES format (.igs) import was included in older versions of AutoCAD. In newer versions (2000/2002) you had to buy the Autodesk Data Exchange module (IGES Translator) for IGES file import/export.

Current versions of the IGES Translator are part of the "mechanical" versions of AutoCAD - AutoCAD Mechanical (since R6) and Mechanical Desktop (or Inventor).

Since AutoCAD 2012 (2011 with Advantage Pack), the IGESIMPORT is a standard internal command in AutoCAD.
