I have an image reference underlayed in my DWG drawing and I want to select multiple polylines using Shift. But instead of selecting another entity object, I get the context ribbon tab "Multiple" and cannot select multiple polylines or their grips.

Try to disable the variable PICKADD or select other objects without Shift. You can get rid of the "Multiple" context ribbon via the CUI or in Options.

You can disable this ribbon typ in CUI (Tabs > Context tab state > Heterogeneous selection) or in Options: Selection > Context tab state > Maximum selection = 1.

It is also possible that the selection conflicts with the image selection settings - see MAPIOPTIONS: General > disable "Shift+left click".
