As we do every year, today Autodesk employees in the United States have the day off for Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a day where we honor those who have sacrificed their lives in service to the country. This is not to be confused with Veterans Day. Although we do honor the fallen on Veterans Day, that day is also a celebration among the living who have served honorably in the military in both wartime and peacetime. I am thankful to be able to celebrate both days with my family — my son in particular.

Speaking of my son, in addition to missing all who sacrificed, he will be particularly missing Sergeant Thomas Spitzer:

Tomorrow we will be back on the job responding to your feedback about Autodesk Labs technology previews. For today, we will think about those who could not be here with us.

Recognition and appreciation are alive in the lab.
