No, Architectural Desktop (now "AutoCAD Architecture") already contains all functions of plain AutoCAD. It is not an add-on to AutoCAD.

Thanks for the reply, i kinda thought that anyway.
I am having trouble with drawings being transfered between Acad 2007 and ADT 2005. Both copies are less than licensed so no Autodesk updates/fixes are possible. When i save a drawing as Acad2004/LT2004, my colleagure tries to open it in ADT 2005 but gets errors, Do you know of anyway to resolve this issue?

Is it then true - You can't open old ADT drawings into newer Autocad programs. But you can open older Autocad dwgs into newer ADT programs. (toung twister

You can open old drawings in newer AutoCAD versions (both ACAD and ADT). If your DWG contains AEC objects, you will need an appropriate object enabler. |

Please explain "Object enabler" to one who reads Autocad for idiots.

Object enabler is a small "runtime version" of an application. You install it in the plain AutoCAD and it adds the intelligence to read and understand application-specific objects.
