i figured out the problem...the problem goes away when I change the Layer Palette to the classic layer manager, by setting LAYERDLGMODE to 0.  thanks for the help.

have you allready tried to purge the drawing? and whats the detail level you use in the viewport?

has anyone had problems with 2009 going slow paning, zooming or regening while working inside viewports? if so is there a way to fix this?
