Does anyone have any suggestions for protecting company .dwg files so that template files, block libraries, etc... can't be simply copied (for instance by an employee who is leaving the company)?  We've put a lot of time in developing our standards and I'd like to try to avoid having the files distributed outside of the company.

Thanks in advance for thoughts and suggestions.

There is basically nothing you can do to prevent a CAD user from copying information and taking it with him/her if they want to short of a cavity search.  Even then it may be too late.  How do you know the person wasn't copying files onto a flash drive over the last couple of weeks, or month or longer?

I was thinking about maybe having a protected folder on the company network which would contain autocad config files, plot styles. etc... This folder would be restricted so that no one could copy any of the files.  Then if someone copies the blocks and sheet/template files they will be missing the plot styles or other information that makes them function/display properly.  It certainly wouldn't prevent someone from creating the missing files but it may perhaps deter them from trying (particularly people who are proficient at drawing in autocad but don't necessarily understand the set-up and behind the scenes work.  Thoughts?

It sounds feasible.
