Most of the time, it’s pretty obvious what is an “AutoCAD” feature and what is an “AutoCAD LT” feature. For example, if it falls into the “3D,” “programming,” or “visualization” categories, it’s an AutoCAD feature. But despite our best (ongoing) efforts, the line is still a little blurry. It’s one reason we post a comparison matrix on the product site. Another way to clean up the distinction, though, is to add features to AutoCAD LT when it’s clear that they don’t belong in one of the excluded buckets. Four of those features are now included in AutoCAD LT 2011. Gradient hatches. Previously viewable and editable, you can now add your own patterns and shading to your drawings. Layer Previous. Undoes the last set of layer changes. Slightly less applicable for those of you using the Layer Properties palette (where changes are applied one at a time), but especially handy for the classic Layer Manager. Quick Dimension. Quickly create a series of baseline, continued, ordinate, radius, or diameter dimensions for selected objects. Sketch. Create freehand lines, polylines or splines. This command was actually improved in AutoCAD, too—the command options have been streamlines, and splines weren’t an option before 2011. How are we doing? Missing anything else obvious? (Please, don’t say LISP. Seriously.)
