Topic: No Copy and Paste Posted: 10.Sep.2013 at 16:56 |
What would be the reason for me not to be able to copy something from one document to another? I can copy and paste in the same document but not into other documents. Is there a way to fix this?

What program were all these documents originally created with?
Did you download and install the Draftsight V1R2.1 service pack?

It's either your technique or it's the installation.
I'll test it in my version if you'd like.

my co-worker also occasionally has this problem. It does not happen every time just once in a while.
So it has to be something else besides technique or installation. because two different people with lots of experience and two different computers.
Any other reasons?

You're working off a network?
Did you download and install the update? Yes or no?

I tested copy/paste on my system. I started a new drawing and created a couple of objects. Using the shortcut menu I invoked the Copy With Reference Point option. I started a second (new) drawing and created a couple of objects then using the shortcut menu I did a Paste. No problem. I repeated this three more times each time creating a new drawing, adding a couple of objects then invoking Copy With Reference Point. Each time I copied objects that were new in one drawing and pasted them in another drawing. It worked each and every time. By the time I was finished I had created five new drawings and copied at least two objects from each drawing into the next drawing. I even went back and copied ALL the objects in drawing number one to drawing number two, then all those objects I copied/pasted to drawing three and so on until finishing with drawing number five. I could NOT get the copy/paste command to fail.
My advice is to...1) Reset your Profile. If that does not fix the problem then...2) Repair the install.
In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Copy/Paste procedure in Draftsight.
The only other thing I can think of that would account for the problem would be a corrupted drawing.
Have you installed any new software lately?
What anti-virus program are you running? Are you using any programs by Symantec?
Have you tried disabling your anti-virus software then running Draftsight?

I keep trying to crash the command but I can't.
I opened drawing number 5 and copied all the objects. I opened drawing 4 and pasted all the objects from drawing 5 into it. I copied all the objects in drawing number 4. I opened drawing number 3 and pasted all the objects from drawings 5 and 4 into it. I copied all the objects in drawing 3. I opened drawing 2 and pasted all the objects from drawings 5, 4 and 3 into it. I copied all of these objects. I opened drawing 1 and pasted all the objects from drawings 5, 4, 3 and 2 into it. I copied all of these objects. I opened drawing 5 and pasted all the objects from drawings 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 into it. The copy/paste sequence did NOT fail once no matter how many objects were copied and no matter how many drawings they were pasted into. I could probably do this repeatedly for an hour and it would continue to work.
Are you using the COPY WITH REFERENCE POINT option or something else?

Well we can't force you to respond. Hope you got it figured out. If you did then at least return and post an explanation so others may benefit from your knowledge.
