    Posted: 13.Sep.2015 at 11:44
Hi all,

I need a very simple 2D CAD/sketching program to draw basic floor plans, with capacity to add doors and windows, but also need then to be able to create a limited range of custom graphic elements that can be dragged and dropped onto the plan (ideally by cloning).

Can anyone suggest a suitable program.  Most of the ones I have found on Google are far too complex, and I've yet to find one that has simple customisability.  The platform is not that critical, great if it runs on a Mac but Windows, Android, and iOS platforms are all are options at this stage.

Thanks in anticipation of any help or advice.

Regards

What device will you be running this program on?

What customizations are you thinking of doing?

Have you looked at any 2D CAD programs yet?

My main computer is a MacBook but I run Parallels.  But if I can find the right program it will need to work on a mobile device as it will be used for creating quick floor plans 'on the go'.  I don't really care if that device runs Windows or iOS.  The reason for my quest to find a program, is that I need it for doing building lighting fixture inventories, so after creating a quick floor plan the customisations will be a range of possible light fixtures, mainly fluro tubes and downlights, indicating basic info (e.g. 1 tube, 2 tubes, three tubes; recessed or surface mounted; etc), and I would like to be able to drag and drop these onto the plan, or even better, be able to select one type of which there may be multiples, and just click away to mark the location on the plan.

I have had a bit of a dabble with a couple of trial downloads but not in too much depth, hence my question here hoping that someone in the know can point me in the right direction and save me all the legwork.

Thanks for your interest in helping.

Only thing I can think of is AutoCAD 360 mobile app.  I have no experience with it however.

Have you tried DraftSight? It has free version and can run on Mac.

Yeah, but does it run as a mobile app?
