Hi there,

I'm trying to create a halloween costume - and one of the items is a head, which is in a sphere shape - see here: http://photo.rukes.com/tao08/slides/tao08%20292.jpg

Now, I'm thinkin the best way to make this, is to make the head out of quarter segments (s0, 4 of them would make up a complete head)....but, I'm not quite sure how to get / make a template to cut out these segments (im going to use foam).

Someone suggested i try a cad forum - in that, if i could give a diamater of the final head, would it be easy enough to create the template for me to draw round in cad (and export as pdf)?

unfortunatelly i don;t have any cad experience - so i would be looking for a big favour, and completetly understand if its a lot of work.

many thanks,
Neil

Hi,

To make the head piece for your costume that you described, I don't think you need cad.  instead, you should use a large ball, balloon, or aerobics ball even.  cover it in several layers of papier-mâchĂ©.  let it dry for at least 2 days.  stick a pin or needle into it and pop the ball.  then use an xacto knife to cut a hole for you head to fit through.

hope this helps.
