I have creatd a 29-1/4" upright iPart that includes slots, holes etc. which as well includes suppressed cut extrusions on each that when placed into a .iam file the length can be adjusted per user input. When I place component of an assembly made up of shortened iParts uprights the parts list does not give me the quantity much less length but when I place the .ipt file that the iPart generated my parts list shows the original length of 29-1/4" not the new user defined cut extrusion length which would be 29-1/4" - 6"=23-1/4". I have been able to add Length - CutFromTop to my parameters in the iPart generated file but that seems to be backwards way of doing it.
Does any one have any ideas of how to get my parts list to show the actual iPart new length when placing components (.iam).
Our company purchase Inventor and I am the one who is trying to get it going by learning how we need to do things. I have been to our local VAR essentials, introduction to solid modeling, adv part modeling, sheet metal, advanced assembly etc. but this is beyond me so far.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
