Hello, I'm currently searching for information regarding CAD programs. Looking to move from designing /building custom furniture to working in the construction industry as a designer. I've used Autocad and Bricscad many years ago and have been using Sketchup for the past several years. What I've found talking with and applying to a few companies is that many use an industry specific program. eg. Mytech ( truss and wall design) Solidworks, Archicad, Revit, Fusion 360, etc, etc. My question is what program should I focus on learning that would translate well to other programs and be marketable to potential employers? The focus would be architectural as that is what my background is. I have no mechanical background at all. Thank you for your input. Stan

AutoCAD is the standard in 2D CAD. Its principles are being used in other CAD programs, including the many AutoCAD clones (fakes).
