Q - question

How compatible are the so called "DWG-compatible" applications?

A - answer See the BUDWEISER benchmark DWG drawing by Xanadu/CAD Studio (BUDWEISER.DWG is downloadable from Download) as an example for testing of DWG compatibility. Load this DWG (AutoCAD 2000, 2004 or AutoCAD 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013 format) in any non-Autodesk CAD application and watch the differences.

True genuine DWG files are reported in AutoCAD as "TrustedDWG". Forged "DWG" files use only the same file extension but not the original file format. You can loose your design data with such incomplete reverse-engineered file formats.
