This system error indicates a communication error. Please check the cable connection between the plotter and PC, retry the print job. Make sure you are printing the job over the right driver (in a proper format) - not a HPGL/2 job to a plotter with no HPGL card or a Postscript job to a plotter with no Postscript support.
