If you are missing the grip edit functionality known e.g. from Corel or Adobe products - where you can scale e.g. a rectangle by dragging its corner, you can use AutoCAD "grip edit" in a little bit more complicated but similar way.
- Click on an entity to make its grips visible
- Click again on one of the grips to make it "hot" (red) - choose the grip you want to make anchor point (basepoint)
- Press spacebar 3 times to switch to SCALE
- Define the scale factor by dragging (or - alternatively - use the _REF option to define a reference length {e.g. the basepoint and the opposite corner} and then drag the object to scale
