Tens of AutoCAD commands are available not only as a standard, dialog-based command but also in a command-line version. Such commands communicate only through the commandline and so they are suited for user scripts and macros. Some other dialog-based commands can be switched to a commandline version by setting the CMDDIA variable to 0, plus some commands switch to their commandline version automatically when invoked (run) from a LISP application, script or menu macro.

The commands designed for interaction through the commandline start with a dash ("-") character. An overview of all AutoCAD commands which exist in such commandline version can be found in the list of all AutoCAD commands:

Commands starting with "-"
