You can display or set the value of the MRUFilesToList environment variable by typing (getenv "MRUFilesToList") resp. (setenv "MRUFilesToList" "newvalue") on the command line.
IMPORTANT: all environment variable names are case sensitive - use their name verbatim, exactly as listed here! All the values are string-type values. Read more in the tip 14686.
