Inventor: No preview in Place Constraints (grayed out)
A - answer You cannot use Preview when placing constraints in an Inventor assembly - the option is grayed out (inactive).

The most common reasons are deferred assembly updates or using adaptive parts.

Using Tools > Options > Application Options > Assembly uncheck the option "Defer update":
