How to clip a xref with a hole/island inside?

You want to clip an external reference or other part of your drawing but you want to suppress (wipeout, mask) an inside region, not the outside part.

There are several ways to do this - e.g.:

Use XCLIP with a 'keyhole' type of the clipping polyline (a narrow path from outside to the inside isle)
Instead of XCLIP use a WIPEOUT to wipe the inside hole (the usage is not limited to xrefs)
Use MVIEW with regions in a layout. Draw the outside polygon, draw the inside polyline/isle, make REGIONs from both of the polylines and SUBTRACT them. Use the resulting region as a clipping object for your MVIEW.
