Q - question

Using Twinmotion from Revit to visualize other types of 3D scenes.

A - answer If you got the Twinmotion visualization and VR application as part of your Revit subscription (2023.1), you can also use it also for 3D visualizations of other models (scenes) from other applications.

After installation (see the Tip 13539), you can run Twinmotion as a standalone app and use its Import button to open and process your 3D model in one of many other CAD formats - e.g. from AutoCAD, from Autodesk FormIt, from 3ds Max and from other applications, whether they are part of the AEC Collection or not.

Twinmotion from Revit 2023.1 supports the following file formats (if the format does not transfer textures, you can apply them in Twinmotion):

  • fbx
  • skp
  • obj
  • c4d
  • udatasmith
  • gltf
  • glb
  • 3ds
  • dae
  • dxf
  • iv
  • lw
  • lwb
  • lwm
  • left
  • lws
  • lxo
  • gas
  • stl
  • wrl
  • wrl97
  • wrml
  • x
