Yes,you can creat things on both of model space and layout space,
and you can copy things from model to layout, and same from layout to model
but usually,we are accustomed to draw things in model space,
and makeup our drawing in layout space,
if you had drew something, your model is not blank, maybe your model is too big to view.
after you choiced all things, somethings will display by zoom all.

Dear friend,

As i have understood your problem, i am sure that you have created your drawings in layout tab. as such you are not able to see anything in model space what ever your zooming is.

The usual practice is to create the drawings in the model space.
The layout is used to take plots.

I suggest you learn the basics using online tutorials.

All the best.

Hi, I'm very new to AutoCAD2009 (or any AutoCAD), & in each of my drawing files have 1 each of Model & Layout pages.  The Layout shows what I drew, however, the Model is blank (even after zooming all), though its thumbnail shows a few lines.  Can I create the model from layout?  Cheers, Mick.
