Are you using RText? It doesn't support columns.
 
You might use two offset RText lists and mask a half in either of the lists.

On my border in paperspace i have an xref list that is generated automatically when i add new xrefs. Can this be split into two columns as the list is too long & continues outside the box i have for it?
