Guys, I think I am at my wits end on this issue now, because exactly what you are suggesting is what I am doing (1) making sure that my grid is disabled in the original paper space of my border template file, however I am  only using the border temp file to create new drawings thru the "Sheet Set Manager", they are not reference the dwt activly  (1) Even during or after working in the files I turn off the GRID using every available option available in the program.  Guess what after I SEE the GRID GO AWAY, then SAVE and CLOSE the drawing.  Once I open the same drawing BOOM AGAIN

Just a side FYI: check out Tip 7285 below.

AutoCAD 2011 has a new variable that we don't have in 2009 or 2010 called GRIDSTYLE which will allow you to switch between LINES/DOTS. Before, it was strictly LINES in 3D and DOTS in 2D.

The Grid display is saved with each drawing, it's not a global setting. So if you're seeing the grid every time you start a new drawing, it's because the Grid is set to display in your drawing template, (.dwt file). If you don't want the Grid, you need to disable it in your drawing templates.

If you're opening existing drawings, and the Grid is displaying, just turn it off, save and close. Then when you re-open the drawing the Grid should not show up.

No! GRIDDISPLAY did not do it for either (guess when I said clean straight lines I meant the grid was not showing up at dot likeyou asked earlier).
 
AlsoI am definately working in 2D we don't do 3D here.
 
Guess what this is not an isolated issue, there are two more persons in this office that are expereincing the same problem I am.

Ok, that tells me you're looking at them in 3D and in a Visual Style other than 2D Wireframe.

Maybe you can try changing your DWT settings to 2D (Plan View) and 2D Wireframe Visual Display for testing?

Did GRIDDISPLAY help you at all?

You may also want to play with your GRIDDISPLAY System Variable.

Yes! the grid display is turned off in the dwt.
And also when I go back in my dwt the grid still shows up, even though it was not when I closed it a few minutes ago.
