How many bad or corrupted files are there in total?

Where are they stored?  On a network?

You may want to determine what path these drawings took from start to finish.  Who worked on them, where they were worked on, what software was used and record all this information.  Maybe you can find a pattern of sorts.

Last thing.  Does this client exchange drawings with firms outside the originating country?

After today I may not be around for a while.  I've got to be out of town and away from my computer for several days.   If you come up with any of this information and what to share it with us maybe someone else can pick up where I left off.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your support John... At least now your tests have confirmed that the problem is not the file itself...

I'll go to the custumer searching for a solution directly on its machines (I cannot tell you their spec.s).

I will keep you informed if a solution will be found.

Thank you very much!!!!

Sorry, no problem detected opening the drawing in AutoCAD 2010.  Not sure what else to tell you at the moment.

Your client certainly puts a great deal of detail into their drawings.  Before it was purged how large was the drawing file size?

What are the specs on the computer(s) being used?

I was able to open the drawing with no problem using AutoCAD 2012.

I ran the -purge command on it and purged all regapps of which there were 137.  A handful of blocks, one layer and one linetype were purged as well.

I then ran an audit on the drawing.  36,600 objects were scanned including 213 blocks.  Zero errors found.

I think I'll try using AutoCAD 2010 and see what happens next.

BTW...I work in the civil/sanitary/wastewater field so this drawing, as nice as it is, means nothing to me.  I won't be stealing any parts out of it.  Tell your client to take it easy.

As a side thought, since there is no title block/border could the problem be with those aspects of the drawing?

I've opened many a drawing done with 32-bit versions of AutoCAD stretching back many releases on my new 64-bit system and have not encountered any problems doing so.  Some drawings were done on a computer that ran Windows 3.1 and still no problem.  Heck, I even opened drawings done in a DOS version of AutoCAD without a hitch.

Is it possible that such an error might occur due to different OS installed on machines (Windows 7 - Windows XP) or due to different OS bitrate (64 - 32) ??

In any case, let's consider that each machine is equipped with the correct SW for its OS.

I'm not sure that the involved PCs have these differences, I'm just asking in order to focus on all the possible conflicts.

It should work now (make sure you use the Reply button, not the Quick Reply form).

I'm a newbie and I cannot upload files.
I kindly ask to all the moderators/administrators if it is possible to enable my files/images uploading on the forum.

THANKS

Who actually did the drawings in the first place and why are they being shuffled between Mechanical and LT then back?
