I'm using AutoCAD electrical 2011 and in any new projects I've created in the last 2 weeks my crosshairs jump around the screen. Snap is not on. When I open drawings created prior to 2 weeks ago I can move around the screen just fine. I've downloaded the updated driver and am still having problems. I have Windows XP and use the 32 bit version. DYNMODE is set at 0. I've also tried resetting the SORTENTS command to 0. I'm not sure what else to do. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thank you!

Are you POSITIVE that Snap is not on?

The thing that doesn't make sense is that it only happens in drawings created within the last 2 weeks. If it was a system variable or a graphics card issue or a bad mouse it would happen in all drawings.

I think you've already tried most of these things, but take a look here: http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/qaID.asp?tip=4799. I don't know what else to suggest, but if I think of something, I'll let you know.

Hello again. Yes the snap is off.

In the meantime, I was able to take one of the drawings (that I am having a problem with) and open it on another co-workers computer just fine - no jumping, skipping or anything of that nature.  I am pretty certain this narrows the issue down to my local computer. Is there a “default load configuration” item I can select? Are there any INI, CFG files I could look for, edit, or even delete so Electrical 2011 can re-populate the file? Could something have got corrupted in the registry, in my user folder local to the computer?

I am not sure if system specs matter, but I am running Win Xp Pro SP2- 32bit, 3 GB Ram, I have the latest recommended CAD drivers from Nvida for my video card (NVIDIA Quardo FX 3450/4000 SDI ) My company also has all workstations on Symantec anti-Virus, but here again I have had no problems two (2) weeks previous.

Any advise, always welcomed.

Hi,
At first glance i was going  to ask you if you upgraded to windows Vista, or Windows 7, however you noted your running windows xp. With that said, i will ask, if you upgraded your mouse drivers? I had a major problem with my mouse after i upgraded to Vista a year back. After several attempts to problem solve, i went out and purchased a "gaming mouse " from Razer.http://razerzone.com/  The software and drivers were then installed, and hadn't had trouble since. hope this helps.

See, the problem is that this issue only happens in drawings that you did recently, right? If it was a problem with drivers or video card or mouse or system variables it would happen in all drawings. And since you can open these drawings on other machines with no problems, that rules out any issues with the drawings being the problem. So I'm kind of at a loss here. I really don't know what's causing this. It really seems like what you are describing would be impossible, but yet it's happening, so I don't know what to make of it?

Maybe you need to compare your system specs to the other computers where the drawings open with no problems. Maybe your machine can't handle the file size or complexity of these new drawings? Are those computers the same as yours?

Maybe you should try running a Repair of Autocad?

Here are severarl things you can try:
1-Do you have dblocks inserted? If so, try disabling hyperlink options.
2-Try unchecking "Show rollover tooltips" under the Display tab in Options.
3-I don´t know if exists Dynamic UCS in AutoCAD Electrical. If so, try set DUCS=0

I hope some of them works for you

Thanks for trying to help.

1-No dblocks inserted
2-I tried unchecking "show rollover tips", no change
3-DUCS is not a command in electrical

Any other ideas, it's still not working. On Friday the new projects I created I didn't have any problems with. This morning, back to jumping all over the screen in a new project but not in ones created on Friday.

I figured out the problem. I erased all and then deselected everything in my titileblock and then purged. There were hidden layers that were large that weren't purging because they had items on them.

fantastic...Glad you figured it out, and shared the results. I will be sure to pay attention to hidden layers ...
