i only get the option to hide faces if i explode the face. then i end up with a lot of triangles and don't seem to be able to hide the inside lines without making holes in the face.

The picture is not visible but if the planes are 3DFACEs, you can hide their edges individually - see e.g. the Properties window (Ctrl+1). This is normally done automatically in data capture programs.

i've just finished a project using a 3d laser scanner on a building which i had to model in realworks. when the model was completed it was exported to autocad dxf and then saved as a dwg, 2006. when i go to print if i keep the viewports shaded "wireframe" or "hidden" i get a load of lines running across the planes of the walls and any other solid structures. in modelspace you can only explode the planes down to their solid 2d constituents and not to individual lines. this means i have to print my viewports as shaded or rendered which isn't always desirable. has anyone come across this before? anyone have any ideas of how to either explode the models down to lines or get rid of the lines from my wireframe? we worked around it using microstation which lets you explode all the way down to lines but i have no desire to learn that program. |
