Turns light?  As in transparent?

Have you tried shutting everything down then rebooting?

What were you doing when the problem first occurred?

Are you using any custom lisp routines?

Are you working on a 2D or 3D drawing?

Anything unique about the drawing you were working on when the problem occurred?  What is the source of the drawing?

hello John.. I have tried rebooting many times.  it does turn transparent.  What happend was that I was working  normally and clicked on the ribbon and it disappeared so in trying to get the ribbon back the old 2007 Autocad shortcuts appeared and i started using them. then i figured out the ribbon and put them up.  That's when the problem started.  So i got rid of all the old autocad buttons and it is still happening.  I am not running 3d and never will.  thanks for responding.

I'm not even going to ask about the "old AutoCAD 2007 shortcuts".

So, how did you figure out the Ribbon?

i typed RIBBON and a huge bunch of menus came up.  It took up my whole screen.  So i unclicked on the ones i did not need and kept the ribbon to the menus that i use.  Then i save my settings.

I cannot think of a plausible reason why your Ribbon would suddenly get "lighter".  Have you thought about running the REPAIR option?

No other program is experiencing graphic-related problems similar to what you are seeing in AutoCAD?

Annie: "graphic-related" refers to what you see on your screen and not to another program similar to AutoCAD.

The REPAIR option is accessed via Windows Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.  Windows will build an index of the programs on your hard drive and list them in alphabetical order.  You scroll down the list until you find AutoCAD 2011 and under that there should be the option to REPAIR or REINSTALL.  Have your media (DVD) nearby in case it prompts you to insert it.

What problem are you experiencing?

If it is different than the problem AnnieC is having why not consider starting a new thread so the two discussions don't get mixed together?  OK?
