I have a real dumb question. how do you chage the orgin in 3ds max? I wish to creat splines or lines in the front view however i can only draw on the xy plane. I need to create in the xz plane.

If you have your viewport set to "Front" then you are drawing in the XZ plane.
Front view = XZ plane Top view = XY plane Left or Right view = YZ plane Just look at the little icon in the lower left corner of the viewport. |

As always I appreciate your help! I do realize what your are saying however I was in the front view trying to create a line that was not displaying when i realized that it was stuck on the xy plan in the top view. I wasn't until I created a plane in the left view that it allowed me to make a line in that view. I run into strange little quirks like this it seems. Thanks |

Let me put it this way. If i were to create a plane and then rotate the plane on the x axis 45 degrees, how can i create circles or lines on that plane?

Use AutoGrid. This will allow you to draw splines or primitives on faces that are at odd angles.
