Good idea.  They may ask you more specific questions about your system, what you're doing when this happens, etc.  But you're not the only one this is affecting.  So filing a report is a good idea.  If you normally get support from your vendor you might let them know about this too.

"Normally" the first Hotfix for a new release comes out about this time or in early fall.  So keep monitoring the Support link and/or check within the program every now and then to make sure you have the most current update.

Thanks Dave, I think I will contact Autodesk and make them aware.

SELECTIONPREVIEW *is* an available variable command in LT, but unfortunately has been reported as unstable.  I am reading that Autodesk is working on correcting reports of frequent random changes to the setting and releasing a Hotfix for it, but it's not out yet.  Some people have reported that Ctrl-Z (undo) may be partly at fault.  Others think STRETCH may be a factor.  But it's not completely clear on either.

The value of SELECTIONPREVIEW is stored in the Registry meaning the setting is supposed to hold from drawing to drawing.  The  initial value is "3".  I would suggest watching the Autodesk AutoCAD LT Services & Support page for updates.

Dave.

I downloaded this new version of AutoCAD LT from Autodesk last week. I went to PREVIEWEFFECT and the setting is 2. 3 is not possible on this program for the "SELECTION PREVIEW EFFECT". I adjusted my monitor and things seem better. The difference appears to be that the line or effect that I'm getting is white and not a contrasting colour like in the other versions I've used. I guess I will have to get used to this. Why they would change this I'll never know.
Thanks CADforum very much. Have a great day.

Yes, you will need to have a custom LISP program.

JC,

It sounds like you might have a custom LISP routine running at startup... that or someone is messing with you.  Wink

It's also a little hard to understand what you might be seeing, but in the meantime type SELECTIONPREVIEW at the command line and tell us what the setting is.  If it comes back "0" you will get the behavior described.  The value should normally be "3".

I have just started using AutoCAD LT 2014 version and have noticed that there are no changes in the colour of the lines when drawing or dimensioning. I am used to seeing a contrasting colour when you touch the cursor to the next line. This is a good feature because it helps the eye see when things match up. I have gone through the options menu but don't know what this feature is called. It has always been an automatic feature in other versions. All I'm getting is the pick points in object snap but no contrast colour in any of the lines.
Am I making sense?
JC
