I am a 2014 CAD user.  My recent project requires me to import a Revit file provided by the architect.  The converted file seems to be pretty clean with not too many layers and such.  The file size along is less than 1MB.  However, when I am working in these files (1 floor per drawing) the commands/zooms/pans/etc is so painfully slow it is nearly impossible to work.  All I am doing is importing my furniture blocks.  I'm not altering the background at all.  I have purged/audit/recovered the drawing with no success of a quicker drawing.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  My project is due in 2 weeks and at this rate it will take me 2 months to finish.

]Hello Tulaleigh, have you SCALELISTDELALL with the lisp file :ScaleListDel.lsp ( deletes the unused scales ) , OVERKILL ( deletes the lines in double coming from 3D ) also?

There has been a discussion about slow files comming from other softwares recently, I will try and find it.
At this tme of the day I wasn't able to do a "search" in "CAD Discussion" ( server out ) but if you do a search on the Internet with :
"cad forum cz unexplained file size" you will find, it was 13.11.2013.

What are your computer specs?  How much RAM is installed?

Are xrefs being used?

Are layer filters being used?

When you ran the Purge command did you use the command line version that is preceded by a dash and purge Regapps first then repeat and do a purge > all?

Have you tried AUDIT command?

It'll find errors in your file. It might speed up a little bit.

If this won't work you can try install plug-in APLUS.( It won't work on LT)
Use comman PURGEALL. It's simillar to PURGE in Autocad but cleans much more.
It will also get rid of empty obcjects, texts, attributes, do audit, delete scale list, elements with no length.

Features:

Hope that helps:)

The OP stated he already used the Audit command.

I don't see how buying APLUS would be worth the expense just to solve the problem of a slow drawing.  It seems little more than a shameful plug and an expensive one at that with a price of $1222 U.S. or 900 Euro.  That's a lot of money to spend when there are so many other things to try first.

DO NOT BUY APLUS.  IT WILL BE A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY.

That was really slow then. I think, you should read more about the product before buying it.
