Topic: Hatch not working.Posted: 27.Nov.2007 at 20:08 |

Hey Everyone,
I am really hoping somoene can help me.
I imported a drawing from Microsoft Visio into my Architectural Desktop 2006 drawing. I did have to scale it up by 12 in order to get it to the right scale.
I have been working in it for quite some time, and am unable to get the hatch command to work. I have checked that the layer is on, etc. I even tried drawing in Layer 0 just incase it was a probalem with my layers, but to no avail.
I tried hatching through model space tab, and through a paper space viewport. I have tried changing the LTS and the scale, but it still is not hatching. I then tried to hatch solid, cuz that normally works no matter what the LTS or scale is.. But still nothing...
Any idea why this may be?

What method have you used for importing the Visio data? Please note that DWG files created by non-Autodesk applications are not genuine DWG files (the extension is DWG but their internal format is not 100% DWG) and such drawings sometimes behave very oddly.
Try another exchange format.

The guy I got the drawing from just did a "save as" .dwg file. It is the first time I have ever used a drawing from visio, so not sure what to expect...What route should I take from here then? Copy the drawing into a new .dwg file (and loose the million tabs i have set up..) lol? Lora :)

So this this probably the source of the problem. I am sure Visio has also other ways of saving/copying the data to AutoCAD (Clipboard copy/paste, WMF, DXF...).

Iunderstand, but I got the drawing from a client, who did a basic mock up of the space and layout he'd prefer. I worked on the drawing & detailed it immensley. He isn't from here...
Is there anyway of my correcting the .dwg format which doesnt involve re-saving from Visio? Can I copy & paste into a new .dwg or anything like that?

You could try to WBLOCK the non-DWG part, OPEN and SAVE it in a separate session, then reINSERT it back - but whether it helps..., this depends on the specific problem present in the "forged" DWG file.

Thanks for all of your help. I dont think i can do that, since i edited some of his lines etc.. It will be too dofficult for me to tell what is a .dwg and what isnt... I think I've learned my lesson.. In the furture, how should I save it from visio to .dwg in order for it to work perfectly as a .dwg? |
