I'd ask why but I'm afraid to. Whatever works for you is fine by me. I hope you get it all solved eventually.

These hyperlinks do not leave the document. They are references from model space to paper space.

And what documents or drawings do all these hyperlinks reference? Are they all stored on the network as well?

You need only disconnect from the server for a brief moment which allows AutoCAD To find the directory, from there (as long as you keep the drawing open) you can reconnect to the network and put in as many hyperlinks as you like. Fortunately for me, it doesn't matter anyways as the hyperlinks are all staying within the same drawing. As I said though, it's only a workaround. Best to do what Vladimir talks about, and fix the problem permanently. |

They mention it - clean the target folder as much as possible, create a Documents subfolder, or use the commandline version.

So what good is the fix if the drawings you are linking to are stored on the company's network?

Found a solution over on the Autodesk community, follow the link for details if you're having a similar problem.
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/CAD-Managers/HYPERLINK-command-Hangs/td-p/3897745 The cause of the problem seems to be computers running AutoCAD on a company network of some kind. Simple "fix" is to disconnect the computer from the network, and it should work. There is a more in-depth fix in the link.

AutoCAD 2014 LT is the software I am working on.
Dell M4500, 4gigs ram, and a 2.67GHz i5 processor are my hardware.
I know it's a long shot, as this problem is rather vague, but figured I'd post a question in case someone else has already had this problem. So, on to the problem... Whenever I attempt to do anything concerning a hyperlink, creating or editing, it causes AutoCAD to go into thinking mode, then it comes back as not responding, and will sit there for hours. If a document already has a hyperlink in it, I can click on it, and access the hyperlink without problems, but that is it. Kind of at a loss here on what to do. Any advice? |
