Hi! I'm aware of the fact that I'm running AutoCad 2002 which is outdated but I still use in on a daily basis. Up until a few days ago everything was going fine but then all of a sudden When i tried to save a file i get a error telling me the file is write protected every time I attempted to save my open drawing. I can work around this my saving the file under a different name but that's not really a fix. Has anyone got any idea of what i can do to sort this out? Regards! Colin, |

I've tried changing the read only option in the properties of both the drawing and the folder.

Google is your friend.
Search "autocad file is write protected" to yield dozens of hits.

Hello Iamtheykes, in any case you will have to erase the 2 files generated by this error and normally you will find them in the same directory of the original file, acad.err, ...
Also launch an AUDIT on your file to analyse and repair it. Edited by philippe JOSEPH - 20.Feb.2025 at 07:17 |

Ok I've made a bit of headway on the Autocad 2002 problem. I ended up having to create a new Admin windows user account. Now i can open and save files . So I'm left thinking it's a permissions issue. |
