Topic: lost textPosted: 27.Jul.2011 at 12:37 |

Hi,
I have text on a layout in paper space. Suddenly I can't highlight it - I need to amend it. New text is fine, but the text older text which was all typed in the same drawing session is 'locked away'. There is nothing on the layers which looks suspicious - any ideas? cheers. |

Is the text on a layer called Defpoints?
Is layer "0" frozen by any chance? |

Probably the layer in which the text was written is locked for editing. Open the layer dialog box and unlock all layers and then try to modify.

Hi, thanks for the ideas, however; Text is on a text layer and isn't locked or frozen or anything. I have just opened the dwg and nearly all text was 'available' in PS . A few instances weren't though (strangely, these were texts that I had copied from one location to another, and the copied locations were available). I went into MS, then back to PS, and none of the text is now available, except for a couple of bits I typed yesterday.
Its a strange one.... |

Post a drawing with the offending text in it so someone here can take a look at it.

They don't make it obvious when it comes to posting an image or a drawing. One would expect a "sticky" explaining the process. Last I read it was buried in another thread where someone asked the same question.
One individual recently posted a drawing as a block in the CAD Block section of the forum. Not sure I would have done the same but it worked. Edited by John Connor - 28.Jul.2011 at 15:50 |

This site can be soooooooo sloooooooooow at times it becomes frustrating. Don't have this problem at other CAD-related websites.
Anyway, my approach is to create a short message and post it. I immediately click on the EDIT button and then I proceed to add the link to a drawing as I did in my previous post. Click on the File Upload icon. Then click on the Browse button. Locate your dwg file (max. 500KB file size). Click on Open followed by clicking on Upload. Then click OK. At the message "to be patient" click that OK button then follow up by closing the window. Hopefully the file will be inserted as a link in your post when you finally click on Updated Post.
