Hi, i'm trying to import a 3d dwg block from cadforum into inventor. Have tried exploading block, create solid, create surface, inside autocad 2012 (no joy). Have tried open>options>import dialogue in inventor 2012 (ditto). sure i'm missing something simple. inventor product design suite 2012; win 7 64; grateful for any help. thanks.

Which block is it? Depending on the 3D object types used in the DWG you should be able to load the DWG directly into Inventor or use AutoCAD to export it to a neutral 3D format.

It's the 3d DWG block 42" Flat Screen TV under architecture/devices/electronics... I tried importing into inventor repair environment and no luck. I can see the objects in the preview window of the import wizard but nothing is coming through to ipt. I can open the file in autoCAD but can't work with it...? It dosen't import as a DXF either. What am I missing? Thanks.
